My acoustic strings are stiff?

I am an electric guitarist and the highest gauge I play on on my electric are 10's. I recently got a Ovation Demented Series Guitar that was shipped with I think 12-53's or 54's. Anyways, I can play the guitar the way I want and the action is really good but when I bend a string its very tough and stiff. I was wondering if you think I should throw on a pair of 11's to build up my strength before playing 12's? If I put on 11's is there a specific brand you recomend? How would I intonate the guitar? Do you think I'd have to adjust the truss rod?
