Home made jet engine?

hi im trying to make a home made jet engine using an old turbo that came out of a random car and a muffler.but i dont know about the fuel to oxygen ratio i was just wondering if i could go about it just by experimenting like letting the turbo inject air then gradually injecting fuel until i get ignition any other info will help thanks
