What could that sound be?

I started my car up and I drove to the exit of the apartment complex, I waited for the cars to pass and as soon as I had my chance to go I let my foot off the brake and as soon as I did I heard something like a thump and then a roaring loud noise came from the car as if the muffler sounds bad but its coming from the front. What could it be? I have a 2001 Toyota Camry LE
