My torrents automatically play on Windows media player and it doesnt work?

Okay so the other day I was trying to get a torrent to play on my windows 7. At first I assumed that it would work on Windows Media Player but it couldn't. I later found a new software that could play torrents and the like, however after I installed it I found out for some demented reason, that it was set to automatically play all torrents in WMP which cannot play them. Now whenever I try to download a torrent it goes to WMP not the right software that CAN play it. Is there anyway to stop it from automatically playing all my torrents!?!!?!?!
