In west virginia what are the exhaust laws?

Im wanting to take the catylic converter off of my truck and put a glasspack muffler with a turn down where the cat was. I looked it up online it said there must be a muffler but it didnt mention the cat, also i hear the exhaust has to come to the back of the cab is that true? Im in wv
